Jurgen Klopp said following the foul of Hamza Choudhury driven Mohamed Salah to hobble off, he couldnt enjoy Liverpool win over Leicester.
The Leicester midfielder scythed down to the Liverpool forward to prevent him a clear route to target in the last minute of the game at Anfield, and has been given a yellow card while Salah, after enjoying for several minutes, left the pitch at visible pain, with his longer-term state as yet unknown.
Liverpool proceeded to keep their winning streak for a Premier League match that was 17th up but after the game, a sullen-looking Klopp fumed in Choudhury – whose foul on Matt Ritchie at August left him on the sidelines for 2 months.
I stand here and should be only happy due to the way the boys did this, but I cannot get over the Choudhury yellow card, he told Sky Sports. He should know better.
He maybe was unfortunate with Ritchie, but he has to calm down. Then, and you can not just opt for the guy get a yellow card, I do not understand how that functions.
Three years in a row weve been the team with the yellow cards, so we dont do these things. To slow Mo down, that is really not acceptable.
Klopp felt Liverpool had been great value for the win at Anfield, which also equalled their best-ever beginning to a year, matching an run at the start of the 1990/91 season.
Ahead of Manchester Citys match against pilots, Liverpool stand eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
We won the game, we deserved it, we had been even better, Klopp continued. Leicester are a super team and they were great for 30 minutes, but aside from that it is not like Adrian had 30 saves or whatever.
Klopp called the decision to award Sadio Mane a last-minute spot kick against aclear penalty, but Brendan Rodgers, while stopping short of criticising the conclusion, was unhappy with the Liverpool forward.
I think that entering the box, Sadio was likely making sure he made the most of the touch he explained. The swimmers handed it online feel. Its hard for the guys in the [VAR] studio to overrule that.
I believe if it wasnt granted no one wouldve given a great deal of it. We had to do better in that moment too, those details can really give you a point or 3 points.
Its quite unkind to concede the punishment so overdue, Im not sure it was clear and clean, but quite proud of this team were playing against the winners, a team so strong, particularly at home.
Paul Merson, covering the match for Soccer Saturday, disputed whether the James Maddison of Leicester was fit after winning last weekends win over Newcastle, despite his goal at Anfield.
Leicester will be let down, but did many people really expect them to go to the home of the European winners and triumph? Very few, he explained.
They got to some places, but their final move was actually poor. I dont know whether James Maddison has been fit as the game was not actually influenced by him. Jamie Vardy did not actually get any shift.
You have to remember there is a major gulf between the two sides. There are not many of the Leicester players whod get in the Liverpool team.
But theyll do a great deal better than a number of other teams will do in Anfield.
